CDs are here!

Canções Profundas (Deep Songs) is now released by local label Prefecture Music on CD and as a digital download, both available directly from me via my BandCamp page. The piece is a cinematic mix of field recordings, improvised music and electronics mapping the journey of my Portuguese ancestors from the Azores Islands to California, featuring some first rate Seattle musicians and Azorean viola da terra ace Rafael Carvalho. The download version includes an extra track of just the soundscape recordings, minus the improvising musicians.

Also, percussionist on this piece and Prefecture label boss Paul Kikiuchi has a beautiful new album out, released at the same time as mine. Well worth your listening.

Good News!

Two items to report:

1. The design process is finished and looks great (thanks Tiffany Lin!) and the files for the cover art and audio were all sent off to the plant yesterday. We should have CDs in our hand by the end of the month or so. Getting excited!

2. My friend Naomi Moon Siegel, who plays trombone on the album, recently released a terrific new album of her own that is well worth your attention; but don't take my word for it, read the very nice profile on her published in Downbeat Magazine. She'll be moving to Montana soon (to be a dental floss tycoon?), and Seattle will be sad to see her leave, but we expect her to come back for the occasional gig.
