Listen (excerpt, 5:00)
Ten-channel collaborative installation with visual artist Rick Araluce. The gallery is overrun by a chaotic jumble of plumbing and pipes; the arteries and veins of the structure that typically lurk behind walls and beneath floorboards are aggressively laid bare, disrupting the ability to navigate the space and threatening to take it over entirely. The pipes, which appear to be ancient, corroded cast iron, are in reality fashioned by hand from plastic, wood, and paint. The open ends of some pipes emit abstract sounds derived entirely from field recordings made in the empty gallery.
